All my friend's babies who go through the usual vaccination schedule have contracted an ear-infection and sometimes, recurrent ear infections. But my baby hasn't even got a cold! " I am a bellman at The Venetian Hotel in Las Vegas. Our employer was requiring all of us to get the Hepatitis A vaccine. The 'official' reason was because we handle water and ice. I thought that was ridiculous and I refused. The Health District supplied me with a religious exemption with out batting an eye. I asked, they said ok, put it in my file and away I went. No questions asked. Only one other bellman did the same thing as I did. My employer wanted a copy of my paperwork and so far, hasn't given me any problems. Shannon Nelson, 18, a Chicago area athlete, musician and artist entering college reported to the National Vaccine Information Center (NVIC) that she received HPV vaccine (Gardasil), meningococcal vaccine (Menactra) and chicken pox vaccine (Varivax) simultaneously on June 21,2007. Symptoms of tingling and muscle weakness began within a week and progressively got worse. On July 5, she was diagnosed with Guillian-Barre syndrome and spent 22 days in the hospital. "Before the shots, I ran six miles a day," said Nelson. "The doctors told me that I might have been put on a respirator if I hadn't been in such good shape," she said.
